The digitization of the job search makes it easy to find jobs, but it's not always the most conducive to landing the job. You can tap into job boards on Indeed or Monster to identify positions that pique your interest, but falling into the trap of only applying through these portals often means you're sending the same resume to dozens of companies. Often times, not every job available is listed on job boards. It takes some extra elbow grease to identify what is available. Strengthen your skills
Dedicate yourself to learning a new skills or honing ones that you already have. There are platforms out there like Coursera or Udemy that will guide you in this process. You can also choose to enroll in individual courses from places like Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, University of Maryland, and more. Committing to self-improvement shows passion and drive, and you can showcase these accomplishments on your professional materials.
Try a temp job or volunteering
Don't rule out applying for a temp job to keep up with your financial needs. Temp jobs can be helpful as you're searching for a long-term career move, and there's a possibility it can lead you to your next full-time gig. Contact a temp agency in your area to get started. Volunteering is also a great way to gain new skills and do good for others. Many companies are inspired to hire a candidate who is dedicated to giving back to the community.
